Information for delegates organising a service project anywhere in Jamaica or volunteering with an existing one. Delegates are encouraged to consider projects in the western parishes where the impact of Hurricane Melissa was greatest.
Submission deadline: June 1, 2026
Please complete the registration form if you plan to conduct a Day of Service project anywhere across the island, or wish to volunteer for an existing one. Delegates are encouraged to do projects in the western section of the island, where the impact of Hurricane Melissa was greatest.
If you wish to volunteer wherever you may be needed, also register your interest using the form. We will try to match you with a project group, but acceptance is at the group's discretion. Feedback will be given as early as possible.
Please submit your completed form by June 1, 2026.
Individuals or groups carrying out a service project will have the responsibility to make the links, develop the plans, and implement their project with their own resources, energy, and expertise. Some amount of support will be provided in-country.
Projects can be located anywhere in Jamaica, but groups need to bear the travelling logistics and cost in mind. If — due to logistic challenges — projects cannot be implemented on June 18, all efforts will be made to assist but cannot be guaranteed.
If you are bringing materials or equipment into Jamaica to use for your project, please note that these are best brought in as accompanied or unaccompanied baggage. Please do not send as separate shipments. You must register your items and facilitate relevant procedures for a hassle-free process.
Guidance regarding shipping items, customs waivers, accompanied and unaccompanied baggage, and other information will be provided as required by each group.
Facilitation can be provided through the National Education Foundation and the National Healthcare Enhancement Foundation for projects with imports, provided that the Diaspora Day of Service (DDOS) Coordinator receives the registration application on or before June 1, 2026.
All medical professionals must be credentialed in advance of your arrival, facilitated by the National Healthcare Enhancement Foundation.
We invite you to share your photographs and other information using the online tool which will be provided when project confirmations are finalised. The information collected will be shared publicly to recognise your efforts. Based on feedback from previous Day of Service teams, this can aid your future fundraising initiatives. Project descriptions will be included in a press kit for the JIS and other media houses for possible coverage. We encourage you to provide comprehensive details.
The Sub-Committee in Jamaica has been formed largely to monitor activities, facilitate linkages, and to collect information before and after the service projects are completed. Sub-Committee members will be available to answer questions. During the Conference there will be a Diaspora Day of Service information desk. Some support with bottled water and snacks may be provided.
The form has several sections:
Sections C and D appear automatically once you choose between Organising and Volunteer.
Forms can also be emailed to diasporadayofengaement@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest and efforts to make a difference in the lives of fellow Jamaicans. We look forward to your participation in the Diaspora Day of Service.
